The ongoing Aniplex Online Fest 2023 revealed that a new Blue Exorcist TV anime series will be released earlier today. The series titled Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga, will be released in January 2024. This news was accompanied by an official teaser trailer along with a key visual.
Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga is originally based on the manga series that was actually written and illustrated by Kazue Kato. As per the official website and the X (formerly Twitter) account of the anime series, the upcoming Blue Exorcist anime is set to be produced by Studio VOLN.
More details about the anime series were unveiled at the Aniplex Online Fest 2023 by the voice actors of Rin and Yukio. The reveal was done through a special video appearance, which pleased the fans of the series.

Aniplex Online Fest 2023 saw the presence of the renowned voice actors from Blue Exorcist anime, including Nobuhiko Okamoto (Rin Okumura) and Jun Fukuyama (Yukio Okumura). The two collectively revealed several details about the upcoming Blue Exorcist anime, which will be called Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga.
As per the voice actors, the upcoming Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga Anime will cover volumes 10 to 15 of the original manga which is written and illustrated by Kazue Kato. To sum it up, the anime will adapt the Illuminati Saga. Additionally, an official trailer of New Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga Anime and a key visual were also unveiled to provide new insights about the upcoming Blue Exorcist anime.
The official teaser trailer has the central characters of the series, such as Rin, Yukio, Renzou, Ryuuji, and Izumo. It was mentioned that Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga anime will focus majorly on the past of Izumo, while seeing the characters in Shimane.
In addition to this, a key visual has also been unveiled which features the main characters for the next season. The voice actors pointed out that Izumo looked distressed in the key visual, and noted that she would have a big role to play in Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga. Nobuhiko Okamoto and Jun Fukuyama graced the event as representatives of the entire cast. Besides, the official website and X (Twitter) account has given out other details regarding the anime’s production.
New Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga Anime is based on the original manga series penned and illustrated by Kazue Kato. The upcoming Blue Exorcist anime will be directed by director Daisuke Yoshida and Produced by Studio VOLN. The New Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga Anime will see Yurie Daito as the character designer/chief animation director.
In addition, Toshiya Ohno will be responsible for the series composition, as the music for the series will be handled by Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano.
Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati will be the third installment of the series following Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, which was released in 2017. Nobuhiko Okamoto, the voice actor of Rin Okumura, also mentioned during the event that the main characters will be going to Shimane in the next season. In other words, the upcoming season will highlight Izumo’s character.
