LoL Dev Update July 2023: Quick Play, Skins, Rewards And More

1 years ago By AI Smith

League of Legends, developed by Riot Games, is a global gaming sensation that continues to captivate millions of players around the world. Keeping its player base engaged and entertained is crucial, and Riot Games ensures this by regularly sharing informative Dev Update videos.

In the recent July 2023 Dev Update, Executive Producer Jeremy “Brightmoon” Lee and Head of League Studios Andrei “Meddler” Van Roon delved into upcoming features and changes that promise to elevate the League of Legends experience to new heights. From the introduction of Quick Play, exciting skin releases, Blue Essence Emporium, and other enhancements, here is a detailed overview of the Dev Update.

Quick Play – A Faster Path to the Battlefields

One of the major highlights of the July 2023 Dev Update is the introduction of Quick Play, an exciting new game mode designed to enhance the gaming experience for League of Legends players. Quick Play will provide players with the ability to select their roles and champion combinations right at the moment of queuing up. By eliminating the traditional Champion Select phase, players can jump straight into the game, saving valuable time and streamlining the process.

The developers originally planned to release Quick Play before the mid-year patch, but it was put on hold to prioritize other updates. The focus shifted to introducing the new rank tier, Emerald, in the currently ranked split, and developing the 2023 Summer Event titled “Soul Fighter” and the brand new Arena game mode.

However, the Dev Update assures players that Quick Play is back on track and will permanently replace the Summoner’s Rift Blind Pick mode. The team is working diligently to ensure that Quick Play is ready later this year, with the possibility of launching it during the League of Legends Preseason 2024.

Embracing Wild Rift Skins

The Dev Update also touched upon the integration of more Wild Rift skins into the main game. Players have warmly received the Star Guardian skins for Seraphine and Orianna, imported from Wild Rift, making them some of the most sought-after choices in the game.

Riot Games continues to work on bringing additional Wild Rift skins to League of Legends, with the eagerly anticipated Redeemed Xayah and Rakan skins set to make their debut later this year. These skin releases promise to add more visual variety and customization options for players, further enhancing their in-game experience.

Blue Essence Emporium Returns

For players eager to spend their accumulated Blue Essence, the Dev Update brought good news. The Blue Essence Emporium is set to return in patch 13.17, presenting players with the perfect opportunity to splurge on their favourite cosmetics, icons, and other rewards.

In a bid to provide players with more opportunities to indulge in the Emporium, Riot Games plans to host the event twice a year, giving players more chances to acquire the items they desire.

Streamlining Champion Shard Disenchantment

Riot Games understands the importance of optimizing gameplay and player convenience. To streamline the process of disenchanting unneeded champion shards, the developers are introducing a mass disenchant feature. This new addition aims to save players time while managing their inventory and collecting the necessary resources for unlocking new champions or crafting skins.

Icon Updates and Improvements

The Dev Update also revealed upcoming visual updates for the ability icons of several champions, including Graves, Janna, Jarvan, Nami, Orianna, and Varus. These refreshed icons will add a touch of visual elegance to the champions’ abilities, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the game. The development team also expressed their intentions to update icons for other champions in subsequent releases, showing their dedication to maintaining the game’s visual appeal.

A Promise of Transparency and Communication

Riot Games remains committed to fostering better communication with the League of Legends community. The Dev Update reaffirmed the development team’s promise to provide regular updates and insights into the game’s progress, changes, and new features. Future Dev Updates will include discussions on the performance of the new Arena game mode and the team’s thoughts on the future of Arena and other game modes. The updates are geared towards keeping players informed and engaged, fostering a sense of partnership between players and developers.

A Bright Future for League of Legends

The League of Legends Dev Update: July 2023 – “Mid-Year Check-In” provided a comprehensive glimpse into the exciting developments and enhancements that players can anticipate in the game.

From the introduction of Quick Play, which promises to expedite players’ journey into the battlefields of Runeterra, to the integration of enticing Wild Rift skins, Blue Essence Emporium, and quality-of-life improvements, Riot Games showcases its unwavering commitment to providing a thrilling and immersive gaming experience for players.

As the League of Legends community eagerly awaits future developments, the future of the game looks even brighter, with a steady flow of exciting content, features, and rewards set to keep players engaged and entertained for years to come.
