What is a Mastery Camo?
Introduced in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, mastery camos are used to refer to an achievement skin that can only be obtained when all other cameos of a particular weapon category have been unlocked. As the name suggests, a mastery camo is something that is attained once players master (or unlock) all other camos in a weapon category by completing challenges.
Yes, if you thought unlocking the skins was easy, news flash, it is not as simple as you think. Players need to complete a list of challenges first before they can even unlock the first camo. Not only that but the higher the camo is on the list, the more intense and difficult the challenge to obtain it. This is the reason why mastery camos are so valued because a player has to really put in the work to get to it. There are various levels of mastery camo with their own name, the golden mastery camo is now referred to as Gilded.
List of Mastey Camos in MW3 Multiplayer
In Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer mode, there are four mastery camos that can be unlocked on every gun in the game. The unlocking process for these four mastery camos is like a step-by-step climb to reach the top. Along with the names of the mastery camos we’ll also add in what needs tp be done to move on to the next level.
1. Gilded – You can get this camo when you complete all the challenges for the particular weapon and one extra challenge in the end.
2. Forged – You will begin to unlock this when you unlock the Gilded Camo and one more challenge.
3. Priceless – Priceless camo can be unlocked only when Forged is obtained on all the base 36 MW3 weapons and one last additional challenge. Is completed.
4. Interstellar – This is the highest mastery camo a player can get in the MW3 multiplayer. You will first have to reach Priceless on all the 36 MW3 weapons and then you will get access to Interstellar.
List of Mastery Camos in MW3 Zombies
The list above was for the multiplayer mode, now this list is solely for the MW3 Zombies mode. The number of mastery camos that can be achieved is the same as the ones above (four). However, please note that the list below is only for MW3 Zombies and is not the same MW3 Multiplayer. Similar to multiplayer, you can get these camos by completing all the necessary challenges. With that said, here they are:
1. Golden Enigma – Players will need to complete all base camo challenges and one extra challenge for this camo.
2. Zircon Scale – Unlock the Golden Enigma and complete one extra challenge to get this camo.
3. Serpentine – To win the Serpentine camo, unlock Zircon Scale on all the 36 MW3 weapons and one more challenge.
4. Borealis – The Borealis camo is the final and highest camo one can achieve in MW3 Zombies. You can obtain this camo by unlocking the Serpentine one for all the 36 MW3 weapons.
How to unlock Borealis in MW3?
The road to the unique camo is not an easy one as you can see. The first step to unlocking the Borealis is that players will need to fully max out every single weapon in MW3. This, fortunately, does not include the guns that have been transferred from MW2. However, this means that there is still a long list of 36 weapons that need to be maxed out. One of the weapons in MW3 is the MCW assault rifle which is deemed as one of the best in the game’s vast arsenal. First players will need to get the base camos and then move on to get the mastery camos. So, we’ve noted down both the base camo and the mastery camo challenges. Here’s what you will need to do to unlock Borealis on this assault rifle:
Base Camo Challenges
1. Wyvern – Get 250 Kills
2. Vehement Rage – Get 10 Kills in 5 seconds 10 times
3. Tempest Shards – Get 250 hip-fire Kills
4. Toxic Spots – Get 200 Critical Kills
Mastery Camo Challenges
1. Golden Enigma – Get 100 kills and successfully extract in a single deployment
2. Zircon Scale – Get 300 kills while it is Pack-A-Punched
3. Serpentine – Get 10 Special or Elite Zombie Kills
4. Borealis – Complete 36 Serpentine Camo challenges
