Diablo 4 key steps from Mouse: Follow guidelines for better results
Although Diablo IV is easily one of the best games of the year for me, today we want to open the melon that carries a small control problem that many veterans have ended up embracing over the years: sometimes, you accidentally click on an enemy and commands the character to hit him with a basic attack, when in fact the intention we had was to go to that place.
It’s not a catastrophe, but when you’ve spent tens of hours in a game like Diablo 4 which produces a lot of things. It can get a little annoying sometimes while playing this game for a long time. If it happens to you as a player, you should know that the solution could not be simpler.
We have been experimenting for a few days with different settings and key assignments, and We have finally found one that —in our humble opinion— solves the “rogue cursor” problem comfortably and effectively. The only thing as a user or as a player need to carry out is a gaming mouse, the kind that has two buttons on the sides. You have some alternatives, but this is the most enjoyable option.
Diablo 4 Rogue Cursor Solutions
Traditionally, Diablo games have used a fairly simple technique to deal with misclicks: steer the character by holding the left click close to him. This way you gain maneuverability and avoid going where you don’t want to… most of the time. But we propose a solution that consists of unlinking the basic ability of the left click and leaving it only to move.

This is done by opening the options from the main menu (Esc) and unchecking the “combine move/interact/basic ability checkbox” in the controls tab. In this way, you as a player free up allocation options for all these actions. After some time experimenting, we find that the most comfortable is to have something like this:
The steps:
TIP 1
TIP 2
TIP 3
LEFT CLICK
movement and interaction
Basic skill
movement and interaction
SPACE
Dodge
movement and interaction
Basic skill
SIDE MOUSE BUTTON
Basic skill
Dodge
If you take the test and like the results, we are happy for you the result you get in the end. Diablo 4 is perfectly enjoyable without any of this, but we think that this kind of improvement suits it. Illustratively, we also have the other abilities assigned to QWER instead of the number keys (the formula of all MOBAs) and reserving the little finger to consume potions with Shift. The idea is not to have to separate your finger from the keys you need to activate defensive actions (dodge and heal, above all) while guaranteeing control of the character wherever you point.
